I’ve been in ‘sales’ all my working life. At fourteen I sold fruit & veg door to door on a Saturday & Sunday. I continued to enjoy a great 17 year career in retail as a manager of supermarkets, regional controller of convenience stores and area manager of DIY outlets, while leading people and teams along the journey. I’ve raised sales and increased profits by treating the customer as king. Those customers bought from personally me along the way: household essentials, electrical appliances, insurance, personal loans, kitchens, conservatories and bathrooms to name a few.
For nigh on 25 years since, I’ve been in the service industry as a management consultant, trainer and recruiter. The service industry is one of the toughest arenas to sell in. Anyone who has sold an intangible will tell you that. After all if you sell 10 days of your time – what guarantee does the customer have that things will improve? As a headhunter I have to sell the client on the need to retain me (pay me upfront) and the candidate on the idea of changing jobs and on the opportunity and company I represent.
I’ve been a ‘sales’ trainer and coach within that time for 20 years. If it takes 10,000 hours to be world class then if you let me help you, you are in safe hands!
